BBC Radio 2

I started working at BBC Radio 2 in 2015 as a freelancer before becoming a full-time member of staff in 2016.

Initially I spent over three years working as an Assistant Producer on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, at the time the biggest radio show in Europe. It was an incredible place to be working early in my radio career and I learned a great deal.

My highlights included taking the show to The Chelsea Flower Show, the 2018 Royal Wedding in Windsor and our many wild Friday shows with a-list stars and acoustic performances.

In January 2019 I launched two new programmes on BBC Radio 2; Sara Cox from 5-7pm, Monday to Friday and Jo Whiley from 7-9pm, Monday to Thursday.

Sara’s show is all about playing great music, interacting with her listeners and letting her personality come through. As well as helping to develop show, there was a particular challenge when I was regularly studio-producing the show during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

Meanwhile, Jo Whiley’s show is the home of the best music on Radio 2. Jo champions brand new artists and plays the best of the best music of the past. She has regular live sessions, with rising stars Sam Fender and Lewis Capaldi, plus the majestic Hozier, in the first month. Plus her show is also the home of the Radio 2 Book Club every fortnight .

As Assistant Producer working across both shows, I also acted up to studio produce both shows, as producing Jo Whiley’s outside broadcasts from the Hay Festival and Edinburgh Festivals.
