On 13th September 2017 I was thrilled to be named by the Radio Academy in their 30 Under 30 list for 2017. It’s their “annual search for the brightest young talent from across the radio and audio industry”.
When I was back in student radio, looking at the radio industry from what seemed a very great distance away, it was a great motivator that young people were doing cool things in the industry. I never actually thought I would make it on there myself, especially at just 25.
It was also lovely to see some familiar names on the list, including my colleague on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Meera Depala.
All 30 of us were invited up to the Radio Academy’s ARIAS (Audio & Radio Industry Awards) in Leeds on the 19th October to receive our awards. It was great to meet some of the other people who had made the list – from commercial radio across the country to just over the road in New Broadcasting House at the BBC in London.
Plus, The Chris Evans Breakfast Show was nominated for ‘Best Music Presenter – Breakfast’, for which we won Bronze.
